This project is carried out by the Signal Processing and Biomedical Technology Unit (SPBTU), which operates under the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). SPBTU primarily focuses on AI-enabled solutions and digital biomarkers for the healthcare and education sectors.

SPBTU conducts state-of-the-art research on diverse biomedical problems and translates the results into human-centric digital solutions across the spectrum of disease prevention and early diagnosis to continuous monitoring and treatment titration.

SPBTU’s research interests focus on the development of advanced signal and image processing techniques with applications in electrography (ECG, EGG, EMG, EEG) signal processing, endoscopic/ultrasound/magnetic resonance/optoacoustic image analysis, brain-computer interfaces, affective computing, mobile health applications, development of digital biomarkers, unobtrusive remote sensing systems, mixed reality medical applications and large-scale clinical studies design and implementation.

SPBTU coordinates and participates in research projects funded by the European Commission, pharma companies and other private institutions and funding bodies.
