Prof. Vasilis Ntziachristos, director of the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging and coordinator of MOSAIC project, is a new member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. He is also a Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) holding the Chair for Biological Imaging.
Being a pioneer in implementing optoacoustics in the field of biomedical imaging, Prof. Ntziachristos’ pragmatic vision and tireless efforts have brought technological solutions where classical medical and biological imaging techniques failed. His election as a new member of Leopoldina acknowledges this contribution and the continuous impact his research is having in the field.
