April 3, 2025: Girls’ Day

On April 3, 2025, the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI), coordinator of the MOSAIC project, proudly took part in Girls’ Day 2025.

Girls’ Day is a nationwide action designed to help teenagers explore professional opportunities beyond traditional gender roles. In our society, certain careers are still perceived as “adequate” for a certain gender, limiting ambitions and reducing access to role models. These stereotypes can restrict future choices and hinder diversity in the workforce.

Bioengineering remains a field largely dominated by men, so our participation was a small but meaningful step toward promoting gender balance. At IBMI, we opened our laboratories to female high-school students, giving them a glimpse into the daily life of a researcher. They learned about the principles of fluorescence and discovered how our projects contribute to improving the management of human diseases.

By inspiring curiosity and breaking down barriers, we hope to encourage more young women to consider careers in STEM.
